Well its finally here - Katie, Emma and Janet are off to Fresno for the World Championships. I will keep posting news here as soon as I get it.
25th November
The Senior week at worlds is now under way, and Emma Gaffney has skated her figures - coming a very credible 22nd. Well done Emma.
16th November
Skating Order for short programme released:

Katie has done her short programme and is presently in 25th place - quite a few judges marked her higher than that as well. We are all cheering for you Katie!!!!!
November 19th
Katie has skated her long and has finished in 26th place - what an achievment - top 30 IN THE WORLD!!! well done Katie. Emma skates figures in the Senior Event next week.
November 20th
Six of our skaters competed at the Alumwell open today in Walsall near Birmingham and what a haul of medals.

Chloe Lodge also deserves a special mention for her achievment. Chloe was a bit upset at the begining of the competition, but managed to pull it all together and manage a very credible 5th place in her Free skating Competition.
Some of our younger skaters took their FARS grades last week and here as promised is the Role of Honour
Well done to you all - we are very proud of you and how hard you have worked to achieve your grade standards.

Sept 25th - Jessica Higgins has skated her programme at the Cup of Europe in Sardinia and I think she has come 14th. Well done Jessie!!
Sept 24th - Golf, Rugby, Squash, Karate and ROLLERSPORTS are in the running for possible inclusion at the 2012 Olympics. Fox sports is running a poll over which sport people think should be included and at todays date rollersports has 10% of the vote
Sept 18th - Emma's results just in - she has moved up to 16th after her long programme and is 7th in the combined. Well Done Emma!!!
Sept 17th - Great News, Katie has skated her long programme and moved up to 14th place, coming 15th overall, FANTASTIC!!
Emma has skated her short programme and is presently 17th. She skates her long tomorrow - Well Done

Sept 16th - Katie has skated her short programme and is lying 19th - well done!
Sept 15th - Congratulations Emma - 11th in the Compulsory Figures at Senior Europeans, Zurich. Well Done Emma!
The bag pack was a huge success, thank you to everyone who packed or donated money - it was really appreciated and award money to each of our international skaters towards the considerable expense of representing their country
Joan also had a market stall at Newton Aycliffe and raised over 200 quid towards club funds.

DDRSC have had a quick break since championships but now we are all back and busy working for upcoming competitions and shows.
Elise Hadgraft took the quick break a bit too literally and managed to break her wrist in the holiday - fingers crossed its recovered in time for Cadet Europeans at the end of the month.
Well done to Jessica Higgins - she has been selected to represent Great Britain at the Cup of Europe in Sardinia in September.

Fund Raising News DDRSC will be having a 'bag pack' on 14th August 2004 at Marks and Spencers, Darlington (10.00 - 4.00) to try and raise funds for the upcoming competition. Please Help if you can at all - even if its only for a short time, the more the merrier!!

Wow - Durham Girls do it again!!!!! what a fantastic scoop of medals at the British Championships.
Elise won a Gold for Cadet Ladies Free Skating,
Katie won a Gold for Junior Ladies Free Skating,
Lorna won a Bronze medal for Senior Ladies Figures.
Emma won a Gold for Senior Ladies Figures, a Bronze for Senior Ladies Free Skating and took the Gold and title of Senior Ladies Combined Champion
We also had the news that our skaters were selected by the Board of FARS to represent Great Britain in the following major international competitions:

Katie; Junior Europeans and Junior Worlds

We are all incredibly proud of Jessica Higgins who skated a lovely programme in her first ever International competition and managed a very respectable 17th placing. Well done Jessie!

16th June: Elise Hadgraft was on Pure FM talking about rollerskating
13th June: Anthony Higgins ran a sponsored 10km to raise money to help raise money towards the costs of upcoming international competitions
8th - 13th June: Katie and Elise both achieved 6th place in their respective competitions in Misano Italy

30th May: Emma, Lorna, Katie and Elise competed in the FARS silver competition in Stoke Mandeville. Emma won a Bronze Medal in Figures and Elise won a Gold Medal in Free. For complete results please use link button below.
29th May: Our younger club members were fantastic in their successful attempts to skate a mile in order to raise almost 400 GBP for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
In an attempt to raise club funds we have been selling dresses on Ebay and have raised over 50 pounds. We are also running a fundraising stall on Newton Aycliffe market on Tuesday during half term. Please support it by manning the stall for a time of coming along and buying something. See Joan at the Club for details
Friday 28th May Elise Hadgraft was interviewed live on WFM Radio about artistic rollerskating and the competition season.
Jessica Higgins has been selected for her first International Competition. She will be representing Great Britain in Pula, Croatia on 25th and 26th June. Well done Jessica, we are all really proud of you
Jessie, Hannah, Katy, Lucy and Victoria performed a lovely exhibition of skating as part of the Acorn Players show at Woodham School - well done
